more specifically allowed mods
So went to an SCCA Solo yesterday, my 2nd autocross in my FR-S so far, and realized just how badly the tires need to be replaced at the very least. I was the only FR-S, pretty sure the only car, in C-Street running stock tires. In the FR-S/BRZ that's a lot worse since it uses "Prius" tires. Makes for some very sideways and fun runs, but certainly not fast. My plan is to get all the necessary bits on my car over winter to make it as competitive as possible for next season, I want to be as competitive as possible (not factoring in my driving ability, which certainly has a lot of room for improvement lol). Reading through the SCCA handbook I figured out most of what I can do to modify my car within class:
-Tires with up to (down to, however you want to put it) 200 tread wear rating
-Stock width wheels +/- 6.35mm offset
-Drop-in filter
-Catback exhaust
-Sway bars
-Brake lines (will have a dedicated set of pads too)
So that's the basics of what I could gather. I have a 2nd set of OEM wheels for winter, and I'm currently debating between swapping the winter rubber for stickier summer performance tires in the spring and running them for autocross or buying a 3rd set of wheels to be dedicated track wheels. Other than what's listed, have I missed anything on the car that I can touch? I found the suspension portion to be slightly confusing, tbh. Thanks!

Koni yellows with stock springs and wheels can be +- 1 inch in diameter. Catback has to use stock exhaust outlets so no single>dual.

I recommend not worrying about class rules. That way you can get the mods you want, and still have a ton of fun. If you move up to STX, the FRS/BRZ are pretty much the fastest cars there.

I believe you're only allowed to change one of the sway bars, not both, in street classes. You can also replace the shocks/struts, but not the springs. You should bump up to STX. 9 inch wheel width with up to 265 tires make for a pretty fun time. The Toyobarus dominate the class here in CA now, leaving my RX-8 in the dust :(

I would recommend the Dunlop Direzza Star specs for tires. If they come in your size of course... Also I heard someone talking about how the tire regulations were changing for next year so make sure you check on that.

I should also add, try and drive on the crappy tires more. You will learn how to rotate the car better without the use of more steering input!

Is there somewhere online I can look and figure out exactly what class I am in with my combination of car / mods?

When I autocrossed my Tempo back in the late 80's (yeah, I know...don't laugh) I had a set a wheels that I would switch between race tires and winter tires. I would just chuck the race tires in the trunk and the back seat when I went autocrossing.

Yeah, the tread wear rating limit is changing from 140 to 200. Direzzas are actually stop of my list right now.

Well my line of thought is that staying in class will mean saving some money, by not buying tons of mods lol, and it seems like a better way to just learn the car. If I go to STX doesn't that include upgrading to a full set of coilovers? Because as much as I want to do that it'll probably be a little while. haha But going up to STX has been a thought in my mind.

You'd have to read through the SCCA rule book, there really isn't anywhere (that I've found) were it is simply listed in an easy to understand manner. It's kind of annoying.

Hmm... maybe I should consider STX more... haha

Ok, reading back through the rule book I think I would rather go up to STX next season. haha Well, there goes all my money! Is there a tread wear rating limit for STX?

I love mine. My sister runs them on a Crown Vic. Works awesome. (Sorry she's taken)
